Concert Dress


Unless otherwise specified, concert dress is as follows:
Ladies:  Black skirt or black pants, white or solid color blouse, black shoes NO HEELS
Men:  Black pants, white dress shirt, tie, black socks, black shoes (black sneakers are acceptable so long as they are completely black)
Please do not wear blue jeans, white sneakers, or white socks!
 

Concert Attendance

Attendance at all concerts is mandatory. For each concert you will receive either an A or an F.  As long as you show up for the concert you will receive an A. Concert attendance is part of your grade for terms 2, 3 and 4. Concert dates are listed on the back of this handbook. If there is a conflict with a concert date, please let me know as early as possible.

Rehearsals

Rehearsal time is basically broken up into 3 or 4 segments.  Because your voice is a physical part of your body, we will begin with a warm-up period. Next we will work on sight singing to strengthen your ability to read music at sight. Then we will work on learning the parts of your concert music. It is important that you remain quiet and try to keep your focus while a section other than yours is working on their part, and that you work hard with your section while learning your part. After each section has learned their part, the whole chorus will sing together.
At each rehearsal you will earn up to 3 points toward your final grade. If you are either not working or distracting others, you will earn less than 3 points for that rehearsal. If you are asked to sit outside of the group because you are causing a distraction to others, you will earn 0 points for that rehearsal. Also, you should bring a pencil to each rehearsal in case you are asked to mark your music.

Term 1; Effort, Cooperation- 80%
              Care of materials   - 20%

Terms 2,3 and 4:
              Effort, Cooperation- 50%
              Concert Attendance- 25%
              Care of materials     - 25%
